Exclusive Excerpt: Pack Bound

One pack, one coven, a destiny intertwined…

The microwave pinged and Skye jumped.

Stupid. Jumping at microwaves!

This is what happened when you had the kind of overbearing grandmother who sent people to follow you around on your holiday. Paranoia.

Slamming her hand against the button, she barely waited for the door to swing open before grabbing the bowl. Soup spilled over her thumb.

Fudge a fudgy-duck!’ She put the dripping soup bowl down on the bench and sucked at her burned thumb. ‘Ffffffruitloops, that’s hot.’

Wow, impressive. She not only skis like a pro, but she knows how to swear in the most inventive way I’ve ever heard. Tell me you can dance the samba and I think I might just want to marry you.’

The prickles on her neck bloomed into hot fire at the sound of a voice she would never forget. ‘You!’ she said, spinning around.

Me.’ His lips twitched.

Her gaze collided with those incredible eyes and her heart took a flying leap up her throat, cutting off her breath.

Breathe. Don’t act like a teenager with a crush. He’s just a man.

But what a man!

Luckily, her lungs responded to the demand for oxygen, because her brain was still missing in action.

Here. Let me help.’ Without asking, he took her arm and led her out of the kitchen to a bench, made her sit and then headed back to the kitchen, returning with her soup, toast, a spoon and a glass of water a moment later.

Thanks.’ Skye spun the spoon between her fingers as he sat on the bench seat opposite. It clanked against the side of the bowl, the sound kick-starting her brain enough for her to ask, ‘What are you doing here?’

Anthem for the Fans

by Amy Andrews

There’s quite a famous song DownUnder about Australian Rules Football (AFL). It came out in 1979 and I think most Aussies of a certain age would know it. I was only 10 at the time and we didn’t even get AFL on the tele where we lived, but I know it because my Mum used to sing it around the house. It pretty much became an anthem for the sport. It’s called Up There Cazaly, inspired by Roy Cazaly who played Aussie Rules in the 1920’s.

Listening to this song again whilst writing the Women of W.A.R series, got me thinking about all the songs that have become anthems for football codes over the years.

As far as spine tingling awesomeness goes, nothing surpasses a rugby union crowd singing Swing Lo, Sweet Chariot in full voice.

And I was super, super impressed recently during the rugby league world cup to hear the Fijian players raise their voices in hymn! The Fijian hymn sung with such conviction and passion gave me goosebumps!

And then, somehow, this song from Ricky Martin came to represent soccer a few years back during the world cup in Rio. I’m not sure if Cup Of Life will be a stayer but I can’t hear it without instantly thinking of the sport!

Do you have any songs you’d like to suggest for my list?

How to mend a broken heart…

Darcy Clarke would do anything to play for the new Women’s Aussie Rules league, even put up with her ex, Tony, who just happens to be the coach of the Brisbane Banshees. Tony stomped out of their apartment – and all over heart – two years ago, but she’s moved on, and she deserves her jersey.

As his best friend’s girl, Darcy has always been out of Levi’s reach, even after Tony dropped her and moved out of the apartment they all shared. Now, two years on and still sharing the same apartment, she should be fair game. But Levi is no closer to getting Darcy to think of him as anything but a roommate and a friend.

But when Darcy injures herself in play, Levi’s qualifications as a sports massage therapist are put to good use. Suddenly, their relationship becomes very hands on, and Darcy sees a whole new side of her old friend. A pity he seems immune to her charms. When Tony makes it clear he wants back into her life, she has a decision to make: between the man she once loved and the man who never left her side.

Rhian Cahill spills secrets about Virginia

(reblogged from AusRomToday, who are also running an awesome competition that you should absolutely check out!)

10579972_10152737876441477_5568420112043299316_nTell us a little more about your housewife, Virginia:
She has everything under control. She’s a successful businesswoman from a well-to-do family and from the outside she appears to have the perfect life. But we all know looks can be deceiving and no one ever really knows what goes on behind closed doors. 🙂

What inspired Virginia’s story:
The vacuum. 🙂 I was give a very little when asked to write the first episode of Secret Confessions: Sydney Housewives and honestly I had nothing. Frustrated I decided to clean the house and from that came Virginia and Carter.

What was your biggest challenge in writing Virginia’s story?
After that first few days of no idea what to write there was no challenge. Once I sat down the whole story was written in two days.

Why will we love Virginia?
Because she’s not afraid to have hard, hot sex against a wall!

The Housewives of Sydney series promises that we’ll “find out what goes on behind the doors of the most exclusive addresses in the country”. What was the appeal of joining this series? Similarly, what has been the biggest challenge?
I loved the idea although I’ll confess to never having watch the Housewives series (any of them) but when Kate told me what she was thinking I was intrigued and didn’t hesitate to put my hand up. The challenge for me was going first because that meant I was the one setting the base and leading the way which was a little nerve-wracking but in the end it was a thrill and a privilege to be part of this series.

Secret Confessions: Sydney Housewives – Virginia
Rhian Cahill

Cool, collected, confident – those who know Virginia in her personal and professional life would never expect to find her in Boyd’s, a bar across town from her circle of friends and socialite world.

But Boyd’s offers her something she can’t get among her rarefied acquaintances: sex. Rough, hard, mind-blowing, anonymous sex.

In her casual clothes, she’s no one important. Incognito, unnoticed by everyone except one: the bartender who knows her drink order – and would like to know a whole lot more.

Secret Confessions: Sydney Housewives – First Peek!

The first in our Sydney Housewives steamy sex-capades drops on 6 November. To tide you over, here’s an exclusive excerpt. Meet Virginia:

Virginia tossed her Prada tote on the bed and strode into the walk-in. She went straight for
the back wall where she kept the clothes she’d never dare be seen wearing anywhere but at Boyd’s. It might not be her usual night to visit but she needed it. Needed the anonymity
Boyd’s gave her more than she needed her next breath.

Yanking out a pair of jeans and a blue jumper with a low V-neck, she headed for the
set of drawers that held her lingerie. Tonight called for sexy—skimpy—something to titillate her chosen one with before she took him for a ride. She smiled. Just the thought of hot sweaty sex brought relief from the strain that had wound her insides tight over the last few hours.

She loved the girls. Loved the time they spent chatting, or catting, depending on who
sat next to whom, and she totally loved the girl-only time. Except sitting next to Camilla and her sickly sweet newlywed happiness had dug a claw into Virginia that had ripped her wide open tonight.

It had nothing to do with the fact today would have been her fifth wedding
anniversary if Colin hadn’t walked out.

“Damn him.” The words were uttered on a harsh breath.

Virginia selected a red bra and matching thong, and headed for the shower. She’d
showered before going to dinner but it wouldn’t do to have a man between her thighs
without freshening up.

It took only minutes to wash, the other fifteen she spent fixing her hair and touching
up her make-up. Just a light swipe of waterproof mascara and a bit of lip-gloss. It wouldn’t
do to have make-up smeared all over her face after she’d worked up a sweat. And she
definitely planned on working one up. In fact, hot sex against a wall appealed tonight.

Hot. Hard. Rough.

Virginia needed to obliterate everything but pleasure from her mind, and that meant
some nameless guy with a hot bod and the right moves was going to get lucky before dawn broke.
